Speakers & Presenters

Call for Proposals

We are now accepting speaker, panel, and workshop proposals for our 2019 National Convention in Cincinnati, Ohio, April 19 – 21.

Deadline for submissions is November 30 at midnight Eastern Time.

Past proposals that have been selected include presentations on: activism and organizing; politics, public policy, and advocacy; community building; personal experiences with leaving religion; science, technology, and education; communications and marketing; and litigation and constitutional rights.

Musicians, comedians, poets, artists, and other performers are also invited to submit proposals.

Speaker Compensation

In an effort to keep registration costs for attendees as low as possible, American Atheists asks presenters to volunteer their time and expertise by waiving any honorarium they traditionally charge.

In recognition of this contribution, we provide all speakers with free convention registration and complimentary admission to meals and special events. For main stage speakers, we cover the cost of hotel accommodations and domestic transportation as well.

Speaker Responsibilities

Speakers will be required to sign a written speaker agreement and provide American Atheists with a biography, head shot, and other promotional information. Our staff will assist speakers in making hotel and travel arrangements. We will make every effort to accommodate requests for specific airlines, travel dates, and other details.

Speakers must allow American Atheists to make a video recording of their presentation (unless specifically stated otherwise) and are asked to provide their presentation materials in advance, in order to allow American Atheists to offer captioning, translation, and other accessibility services necessary for an inclusive convention.

We will provide presentation equipment like projection screens, microphones, easels with pads and markers, and similar equipment as requested.
